D

Dermorphin

A heptapeptide isolated from the skin secretion of South American frogs of the genus Phyllomedusa. A potent, highly selective μ-opioid receptor agonist approximately 30–40 times more potent than morphine. Contains a D-alanine residue (unusual in naturally occurring peptides), conferring resistance to peptidase degradation. Used in opioid receptor pharmacology research.
