GLP-1
Full name: Glucagon-Like Peptide-1
A 30-amino-acid incretin hormone secreted by intestinal L-cells in response to food intake. Acts on GLP-1 receptors in the pancreas, brain, heart, and gastrointestinal tract. Stimulates glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppresses glucagon, slows gastric emptying, and reduces appetite. The biological basis for the GLP-1 receptor agonist drug class including semaglutide and liraglutide.
