Neuropeptide

A peptide that acts as a neurotransmitter, neuromodulator, or neurohormone in the nervous system. Includes substance P, neuropeptide Y (NPY), neurotensin, VIP, oxytocin, and vasopressin. Neuropeptides typically function as slow-acting modulators of synaptic transmission and are relevant to peptides with CNS effects such as Semax, Selank, DSIP, and Dihexa.
