Full name: Alpha-Melanocyte-Stimulating Hormone
A 13-amino-acid peptide derived by post-translational cleavage of POMC (pro-opiomelanocortin). Acts on melanocortin receptors MC1R–MC5R to regulate skin pigmentation, appetite, inflammation, and sexual function. The parent peptide from which Melanotan II and PT-141 (Bremelanotide) are derived.
