In Vivo

Latin for "within the living." Research conducted in intact living organisms, including animal models (rodents, primates) and eventually human clinical trials. In vivo studies capture the full complexity of pharmacokinetics, distribution, metabolism, and systems-level effects that cannot be reproduced in vitro. The majority of published peptide research is in rodent in vivo models.
